Atul K. Madan, MD
Atul K. Madan, MD, is a board-certified surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery recognized for his expertise in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. Over a career spanning more than a decade, Dr. Madan has performed over 3,000 laparoscopic gastric bypass procedures and published more than 175 articles. He performed the first laparoscopic gastric bypass in Memphis and the first in a liver transplant patient worldwide, and has led minimally invasive and bariatric surgery programs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Miami, where he initiated and directed fellowship training at both institutions. He is a member of the major laparoscopic and bariatric societies, including the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and brings particular expertise to revisional bariatric surgery and endoscopic treatment for weight regain.
